On this 2004 release, various well-known Christian artists come together to create a body of work that celebrates their beliefs. Rather than focusing on the complexities of faith, these songs rejoice in the bounty of God's goodness with exuberant singing and catchy melodies. In general, these two discs are filled with modern, faith-based pop that speaks of the guidance of Jesus. For example, Sara Groves's "The Word" exalts Christ with each passing phrase, lifted by elegant vocal harmonies and some surprisingly funky drumming, while Michael English's "In Christ Alone" and Michael W. Smith's "Place in This World" are poignant ballads that revel in a love of Jesus. Amy Grant's "Thy Word" is also quite evocative, and her use of keyboard-generated orchestral timbres adds great strength to her lyric of hope and devotion. For the faithful, this is a solid set of inspiring pop songs.
